Sports Ground / Pedestrian Barriers
We test, assess and strengthen pedestrian / crowd barriers at airports, shopping centres, schools, and all sports grounds including cricket, racing, football, etc. in the UK and overseas.
We have a range of test rigs to ensure testing is completed with maximum speed and minimum expense.
For sports grounds we work in accordance with ‘The Home Office Guide to Safety at Sports Grounds’. All barriers, handrails, walls and fences that could be subjected to crowd loading (in seated or standing areas) need annual risk assessment and a programme of testing.
An annual risk assessment on every barrier is required; all barriers are examined to identify which barriers need immediate testing, and a programme of testing for all barriers is drawn up.
Our experience in testing allows us to determine which barriers are weak or strong with greater clarity, and hence reduce the cost of testing required. The full length of a barrier must be tested simultaneously; a very long barrier may need testing in overlapping sections. When a barrier fails we can evaluate the best repair method by immediate testing. We also repair failed barriers and build new barriers in house – the test and repair process can be completed quickly and economically
